The Access to HE Diploma in Education (Early Years) is an intensive one year programme of study. It will equip you with the skills, experience and qualifications to go on to study a range of higher education courses in Early Years and Childhood studies that can then lead to careers in early years education, primary education, further education, safeguarding and family support work.
As an Early Years Educator Apprentice you will play a key role in ensuring that young children are healthy, safe and developing at a good pace. Either working on your own or supervising others to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements set by the government for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old. This Level 3 Apprenticeship is suitable for those wishing to begin or progress their career within early years education. The benefits of becoming an early year’s educator are vast, giving individuals the opportunity to work as a valuable member of a team and to help shape the lives of children whilst offering a range of opportunities to progress within education. Upon successful completion of this Apprenticeship, individuals are able to move forward with their career with the knowledge and experience they have gained.
Students will develop knowledge and skills in early childhood, preparing students to work with children in a range of settings, or to progress to higher level study. Students will need to complete an Industry Placement to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for employment in this sector.
As an Early Years Practitioner (EYP) Apprentice you will work and interact with colleagues, children, and parents on a daily basis. Working as part of a professional team you will ensure the welfare and care of children with the support and guidance of qualified Early Years Educators. As any EYP you will support the observation and assessment of each child and contribute to their learning experiences and assist with the care needs of the individual child such as teeth, skin, hair, feeding, changing nappies and toileting under direction of a more senior member of the team. This standard is suitable for school leavers or those working within a childcare setting who do not currently hold a Level 2 qualification.
This course is designed to give you the knowledge; understanding and practical skills needed for supervised employment in early year settings. It is ideal for learners who would like to work with children and their families, in a variety of different early years settings, for example day care, nursery, out of school care and schools.
