This course further develops the bakery skills that you gained at Level 1, allowing you to develop skills in cake decoration and patisserie, as well as creating bread products. This will prepare you for work in the baking industry at an operational level, in both confectionery and bread production.
Key Study Areas
Level 1 Diploma in Bakery and Functional Skills at Entry 3.
You could progress onto a Level 3 Patisserie Diploma course or a part-time Cake Decoration Level 1 qualification designed to further develop cake decorating skills. You can also progress onto further study for science or technical qualifications leading to test bakery or research and development.
Many student go on to pursue careers in professional kitchens and bakeries as bread and dessert specialists.

It is important that you are motivated and enthusiastic about working in the baking industries. You should have a desire to learn new skills and an interest in making and baking a wide range of cakes, breads, scones and pastries.
You may have to purchase appropriate clothing/uniform to wear during your practical classes.
