About this Course

This course will suit you if you wish to gain an insight in to the exciting world of Aviation. For example how the industry works, how an airport operates and why the aviation industry is an important contributor to the UK economy. This course has a broad spectrum covering the wider context of Aviation as a whole and is designed for students wishing to pursue a career in Aviation in general, in roles such as Passenger Service Agents, Transport Security Advisors, Airport Managers or even HMRC Customs & Excise. This course is not specifically designed for air cabin crew. Please note, students wishing to pursue a career as Cabin Crew need to look at Air Cabin Crew Level 2.

Key Units

What will I learn?

You will learn about the structure of Aviation and the framework that supports it, such as the Regulatory Bodies, Trade Associations and Ancillary Organisations.

You will research statistics from the last 10 years, comparing data for airports and airlines analysing growth and cyclical patterns and you will taught to navigate extensive websites, such as the CAA and HSE, extracting the relevant information.

In addition you will develop your customer service and conflict management skills, your geographical knowledge and general knowledge of aviation and airport operations.

Minimum of 4 GCSEs grades A* - C / grade 4 or above, including English Language and Maths.

The college has a vibrant atmosphere and the Aviation Academy comes complete with state of the art facilities including spacious dedicated blended learning Where will it lead? This course can progress on to a university course studying Airport Management or Pilot studies. Alternatively it can lead directly in to employment in the Aviation industry, or you may wish to progress on to a Level 3 Travel & Tourism 2 year Diploma or Extended Diploma.

Extra Costs

Students are required to purchase a uniform and take part in a visit to an airline training centre and airports, the approximate cost of which is £150 in total.
