Sheffield College performing arts students have a spring in their step as they prepare to showcase a dance recital this week.

The Spring Loaded dance show is being staged at the £8.8 million new creative industries facilities at The Sheffield College’s Hillsborough campus on Livesey Street.

Twenty-four students, completing the BTEC in Dance Level 3, are taking part in the performances on Wednesday, March 9th and Thursday, March 10th at 7pm.

The recitals will demonstrate a variety of dance styles including commercial hip hop, jazz, contemporary, and classical ballet. Tickets cost £5 or £4 with concessions. Call 0114 2602600 or email info@sheffcol.ac.uk.

Creative industries specialisms offered at The Sheffield College’s Hillsborough campus include art and design, graphic design, games development, media, music, journalism, dance and drama, and photography.

Heather Smith, Principal, The Sheffield College, said: “This is an excellent opportunity to see our talented dance students perform at their best in our inspirational new industry standard facilities.”

Courses previously located at Norton campus, which closed last summer, have moved across to Hillsborough campus. New facilities include a performing arts theatre, as well as dance, drama, television, photography, music and radio studios, and £450,000 of new equipment.

The upgrade to the College’s accommodation reflects a longer term plan to ensure that all students train in the latest high quality industry standard facilities to boost their skills.
