A variety of pathways and progression opportunities

At The Sheffield College we want to be sure that we are catering for all ability levels and offer automotive qualifications no matter how much experience you have. Our admissions team support applicants to help find the right level of programme depending on their results. We also work with our students from day one to ensure they are able to progress onto higher levels of study at the end of their current study programme.

Students are also strongly encouraged to explore any Apprenticeship opportunities that may become available, in order to aid with their transition into the world of work. Alongside our range of full-time qualifications, we also offer Apprenticeships in the automotive industry.

 

State of the art facilities 

All of our automotive study programmes are based at our Olive Grove Campus, where we've invested over £8 million in state-of-the-art automotive facilities to ensure that you're getting the very best experience and are ready to start employment when you leave us.

The workshop is equipped with a variety of different vehicles and tools to make sure that you can try out the skills you are being taught in a range of different scenarios. You will also be supervised and taught by our tutors who have had year of industry experience before deciding to teach the next generation of automotive workers.

As part of the recent investment, our workshops now include an electric vehicle and engine rig for students to train on as they learn how to fault find and fix the new generation of more environmentally friendly vehicles.

Interaction with local employers

As a student at The Sheffield College, you will be encouraged to interact with local employers to help develop your work-ready skills and to prepare you for successful career. If you decided to study a level three program with us our Work-related Activity Team will work with you to help you secure an industry placement. This placement will allow you to have some time developing your skills and knowledge in the working world before you start applying for jobs after college.

Alongside the Industry Placements programme, the Work-related Activity Team and your tutors will also organise workshops and masterclasses who will come into college to share their knowledge, skills and experience with you. You may even be set a project brief by these employers!
