You can study dentistry here with us at The Sheffield College. Offering you specialist study programmes, we're the only college to do so for miles around. 

We’ve invested lots of money in the best facilities to make sure that we can help you go further. We’ve launched a specialist dental lab so that you can learn with the same equipment you’ll be using out in industry.

Our staff have all worked out in the industry that they are teaching so they know how important real work experience is for our students. As a result they work hard to make links with local employers so we can offer industry placements, special guest lecturers and trips to supplement your learning.

Spotlight on...

Dental Technology Extended Diploma Level 3

This two year course is highly popular and is approved by the General Dental Council, often leading straight into employment.

You will study dental prosthetics, orthodontics and fixed prosthodontics, and on successful completion of the course you will be able to call yourself a Dental Technician.

What kind of work will I do on a Dental Study programme?

Consisting of practical work and coursework you have will the opportunity to study the principles and practical techniques of making appliances in the three primary areas of:
  • Prosthetics – Full and Partial Dentures
  • Orthodontics – Straightening and re-positioning teeth
  • Fixed Prosthodontics – Restoration of natural teeth
In addition to the associated areas of Dental Public Health, the following areas will also be covered:
  • Dental Anatomy
  • Dental Biomaterial Science
  • Advanced Techniques
  • Medical Emergencies
  • First Aid
  • Law and Ethics

Trips, Visits & Competitions

At The Sheffield College, we go further to ensure that you get the best learning and cultural experiences possible to enhance your time with us. Whether that's through visits to local art exhibitions and museums, guest speakers coming in to demonstrate their knowledge and skills, or visiting major industry leaders so you can see how they go further in the real world.


Recently, we’ve taken students to New York, Beijing, London, Berlin, Morocco, Iceland, Bruges, behind the scenes at East Midlands Airport and British Airways HQ, Whitby and even Florence in Italy.



We know that having the right facilities can make all the difference to your learning, so we've invested heavily in specialist dental labs. 

At the City Campus, you'll have access to:

  • Specialist dental labs
  • Computer suites
  • Laptops and Chromebooks available to hire out through the library so you can work remotely if you need to
  • Virtual learning platforms such as Google Classroom and Moodle so you can access your classwork wherever you are
  • Social spaces where you can complete your group projects, or meet up with friends
