Skills Bootcamps are the modern, practical way to build your skills to get the job you want. If you’re aged 19 or above, in work, self-employed, unemployed or returning to work after a break, and looking to quickly increase your skills in a specific area and fast-track into a new job or get ahead with your current employer, a Skills Bootcamp could be the right choice for you.

The Sheffield College-led South Yorkshire consortium has been selected to offer Skills Bootcamps – part of the government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee and Plan for Jobs.

 

Our offer

Recruitment for our next cohort of Skills Bootcamps is now open with the programmes due to start in early November and be delivered over 12 weeks.

Our Skills Bootcamps have been designed to provide applicants with the skills and knowledge to take on additional responsibilities in their current role, which could see them progress into a leadership or management position.

 

Essential Leadership and Management Skills Bootcamps

Do you have a desire to progress into a leadership and management role with your current organisation?

Our Essential Leadership and Management Skills Bootcamp is designed to give you the skills to take on further responsibilities in your current role with a view to progress your career.

This programme is non-accredited and delivered at Level 3 over a 12-week period at 7.5 hours per week, it consists of 90 guided learning hours, plus 30 hours self-directed hours per learner.

 

Units delivered include:

  • Leadership Styles to support delivery of organisational objectives
  • Effective Coaching
  • Managing Change
  • Managing Resources
  • Communication
  • Chairing Meetings and Presenting Information
  • Managing Challenging Conversations

To join this programme, you will require the support of your employer.

The Sheffield College requests that employers support their staff to undertake the Bootcamp Project in the following ways:

  • Learners need to be aligned to a dedicated mentor within the workplace so the learning can be maximised and equally contextualised
  • For each learner, a progression opportunity or additional role or responsibilities are identified in advance of the training. On successful completion the College will need to evidence that a learner has progressed in their career journey and that their aspirations are being met.
  • There is a programme cost, which we ask employers to contribute towards:
    • 30% contribution for large employers (over 250 (i.e. 251) employees) – Contribution required £782.96 per learner
    • 10% contribution for SME employers (under\total of 250 employees) – Contribution required £260.99 per learner

Eligibility

Skills Bootcamps are open to adults aged 19 and over (regardless of prior attainment) who are currently employed in one of the following sectors:

  • Proffesional services
  • Healthcare
  • Adult Care

Additionally, applicants should have a keen interest in the subject and a reasonable level of Maths and English.
