About this Course

This qualification is ideal for anyone wishing to pursue a career in accountancy and finance. The purpose of the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting is to provide students with the specialist knowledge and skills required for progressing either to employment in an accounting or finance role, or to enable progression to further study in accountancy and finance. This flexible course is delivered in partnership with Mindful Education and combines online learning with face-to-face lessons in the classroom.

Key Units

  • Advanced Bookkeeping
  • Final Accounts Preparation
  • Management Accounting: Costing
  • Indirect Tax
  • Ethics for Accountants
  • Spreadsheets for Accounting

Entry Requirements

  • Achievement of the AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting
  • Level 2 (GCSE or GCSE equivalent) English and Maths

Assessment

5 unit exams, each with a pass mark of 70% plus an additional spreadsheets assessment which is pass/fail. Marks gained on these exams are then collated and an overall percentage for the course is calculated. This percentage is converted into a Pass/Merit/Distinction grade.

Where does this Lead

AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualifications open up huge opportunities nationally and internationally. The qualifications are recognised throughout the finance world: from small local enterprises to the biggest multinationals, there is a demand for qualified accounting staff. You can climb the finance ladder by gaining further AAT qualifications at Level 4 (search the website for AAT Level 4 to see further information).

At over 30 UK universities, AAT qualifications from Level 3 upwards provide exemptions on accounting and finance related degrees. All the UK chartered and certified accountancy bodies recognise the AAT accounting qualification and offer AAT members exemptions.
