About this Course

The Core Construction Skills (Brickwork) programme is designed to prepare people to enter the construction industry as bricklayers. This programme will give you a thorough grounding in the practical aspects of bricklaying, enabling you the opportunity to progress to a Trade Diploma upon successful completion.

Key Units

This programme, through a learner-focused progression plan, will further develop your core construction skills at Level 1 by completing the 6705-13 Diploma in Construction.


Units delivered include:
  • Principles of Building
  • Health & Safety
  • Constructing Half-brick and Block Walling
  • Bricklaying
  • Cavity Wall Installations

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs grades A*- E / grade 2 or above (or acceptable alternatives), including English Language.

Assessment

  • Coursework
  • Practical assessment

Where does this Lead

Successful completion of all the elements of this programme may lead to progression to a Trade Specific Diploma, or onto an Apprenticeship.

Future Opportunities

A qualification at Level 1 will lead to opportunities at Level 2 and then a successful career in the carpentry and joinery industry.

Extra Costs

For this course you will be required to buy PPE college work wear. You will need to bring your own overalls and safety boots for workshop sessions as a minimum requirement. All other safety equipment will be provided on an as and when needed basis.
