About this Course

Aimed at accountants who wish to achieve AAT full membership and professional MAAT status. The accountancy skills developed by studying this qualification will enable you to seek employment with confidence, and/or to progress to study chartered accountancy. This flexible course is delivered in partnership with Mindful Education and combines online learning with face-to-face lessons in the classroom.

Entry Requirements

  • A minimum of GCSE grades C/4 or above in both English and Mathematics (or Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy)
  • All Level 4 students must also have completed the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting

Assessment

For classes starting in September 2021 (registered on the AQ2016 qualification): 

  • 6 unit exams, each with a pass mark of 70%. Marks gained on these exams are then collated and an overall percentage for the course is calculated. 
  • This percentage is converted into a Pass/Merit/Distinction grade. 

For classes starting in February 2022 (registered on the AQ2022 qualifications): 

  • 5 unit exams, each with a pass mark of 70%. Marks gained on these exams are then collated and an overall percentage for the course is calculated. 
  • This percentage is converted into a Pass/Merit/Distinction grade.

The AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting qualification will suit those who: 
  • have completed the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting and who would like to continue to build their accounting skills 
  • are already working in finance and would like a formal recognition of their skills
  • would like to go on to become an AAT full member and/or study for chartered accountant status 
  • would like to start their own business through the AAT-licensed member in practice (MIP) scheme

Cost
The fee for this course is £2573, covering tuition and one attempt at each assessment. Our team in Student Finance can answer any questions relating to payment of course fees - please call the main college number and ask to be directed to them.   • If your employer is paying your fees, we would need to see a letter (headed paper) that confirms that they agree to pay the full fee of £2573 or the amount of contribution towards. 
  • ? If you are paying the fees yourself, you can either pay the fee in full for a 10% discount, or arrange to pay in instalments. Please let us know if you are paying fees so we can arrange for a member of the finance team to contact you with your payment options.

Delivery
We have partnered with Mindful Education (http://www.mindful-education.co.uk) to deliver this course through our Online and On Campus blended model. 

Online video lectures are available on demand, and can be viewed from your phone, tablet or computer, meaning you can choose how, when and where you want to study. Each lesson lasts around 45 minutes and is accompanied by animations and motion graphics to bring concepts to life. Exercises, interactive case studies and analytical tools help to enhance the learning experience further. 

On campus (all based at City campus - S2 2RL)
Upon completion of weekly online sessions you benefit from weekly academic support sessions – without having to commit to attending multiple evenings/whole days each week. An experienced college tutor will discuss and reinforce what you have learnt during your online study and will be on hand to provide guidance on progress and assessment. Discussion and debate with classmates will help you apply theories to situations you face in the workplace. 

Class Choices: 
We currently have two start dates planned for level 4: 
  • Group 1 (AQ2016), Support sessions to begin Friday 24th September 2021, running weekly at 1315-1615. Course to end April 2023. 
  • Group 2 (AQ2022), Support sessions to begin Tuesday 04 January 2022, running weekly at 1745-2045. Course to end June 2023.

Extra Costs

AAT membership should be up to date and maintained by the student.

Any exam resits will attract a fee of £60 per exam.
