About this Course

If you want to be a gardener, maintain sports turf as a greenkeeper or groundsperson or work in a garden centre the Level 1 Horticulture could be the course for you. It is a practical craft course providing a good introduction to the horticultural industry and the development of basic horticultural skills.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs grades A* - E / grade 2 or above (or acceptable alternatives) including English Language.


Horticulture Level 1 is assessed by on-going practical assessments throughout the year.

There are no exams for Horticulture Level 1 but you may need to take exams for English and Maths if you are studying Function Skills/GCSE.

Where does this Lead

Successful completion of this course can lead to our Level 2 Diploma in Horticulture course. Alternatively you may wish to undertake an apprenticeship.
