If you want to work for a wildlife trust, country park or country estate the Environmental Conservation programme could be the one for you. This course will develop your knowledge, practical and technical skills to work within this sector of the land-based industry.
This Level 4 Floristry course is aimed at experienced florists who aspire to, or who are already working at management level within Floristry. The course combines creative floristry techniques with business concepts and processes. Students will work on and develop their creative processes throughout the qualification, culminating in a design portfolio of around 35 technical designs. In addition, students will have opportunities to compete in national competitions and visit large-scale floristry events.
Throughout this apprenticeship you will spend the majority of your time (usually four days a week) working and learning with your employer as you develop your portfolio and professional floristry and customer service skills. You'll spend the remaining day each week in college building on your knowledge of health and safety as well as your practical skills. Alongside your four practical units you will also develop your essential health and safety knowledge (gaining a Basic First Aid Certificate) whilst also expanding on your understanding of the order taking process and developing your awareness of your professional development in the industry. If you have not already done so there will also be an opportunity to obtain a City & Guilds Certificate in Customer Service. Once completed you will be well placed to enter a supervisory or senior florist role within the industry.
For anyone hoping to gain employment within the floristry industry, the Level 2 Apprenticeship in Floristy is an industry recognised qualification that guides you through the essential elements required for a junior florist and gives you all the practical and technical knowledge to succeed in the world of floristry. In addition to the Health & Safety requirements, apprentices will learn how to design and produce tied designs, floral arrangements and funeral designs together with developing a knowledge and understanding of plants, planted designs and how to produce shop displays. All apprentices will also undertake a Basic First Aid Certificate, together with a City & Guilds Customer Service Certificate.
If you want to be a gardener, maintain sports turf as a greenkeeper or groundsperson or work in a garden centre the Level 1 Horticulture could be the course for you. It is a practical craft course providing a good introduction to the horticultural industry and the development of basic horticultural skills.
