About this Course

This qualification is ideal if you are wanting to gain the practical skills and knowledge that are important for working as a professional dog groomer. However, you must hold City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants in order to start this qualification.

Key Units

This qualification covers the skills and knowledge you will need to work as a Professional Dog Groomer. 


Mandatory content covers:
  • Health and safety, legislation of codes of practice for the dog grooming industry
  • Preparing, styling and finishing a dog
  • Health checking and handling a dog 
  • Customer service and record keeping
The assessment for this qualification will require you to achieve:
  • A written exam which covers the knowledge and understanding within the qualification
  • A practical assignment which covers health checks, first aid and grooming of dogs with different coat types and for different requirements 

You will gain the practical the skills and knowledge that are important for working as a Professional Dog Groomer.  

Entry Requirements

You must hold City and Guilds level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants to start this qualification. Proof of this may be required.

 

Candidates will need good literacy and numeracy skills, i.e. the ability to read and interpret written tasks, to write answers and complete documents in a legible and understandable form and to make calculations. Candidates will also need to be able to organise written information clearly and coherently, although they will not be assessed for spelling or grammatical accuracy unless these are part of the assessment criteria.
