The Sheffield College is extending its free meals scheme to support vulnerable students during the Christmas break.
Approximately 600 young people from low-income households are set to benefit from a festive season extension of the scheme, which is being funded by the College at a cost of around £10,500.
Angela Foulkes, Chief Executive and Principal, The Sheffield College, said: “Given the ongoing pressures on young people and their families from Covid-19, we are pleased to be able to extend the free meal scheme over the festive season.”
She added: “As part of our commitment to our local community, we want to continue to ensure that vulnerable 16 to 18-year-old students can focus on preparing for their future rather than worrying about going hungry.”
The free meals scheme, for 16 to 18-year-olds, operates during term-time. It is being extended for the two-week holiday period from December 21st 2020 until January 4th 2021.
