To make things as easy as possible for you to continue, here are some of our top tips for working and learning from home!
Keeping to your everyday routine as much as possible is really important! Still get up and get dressed as you would when going to work, eat some breakfast and open the windows to let in some fresh air.
You may also find it useful to make a to-do list or create a schedule of how you would like your day to run. Make sure you allow time for a break!
It’s good to still keep in touch with others, whether they’re friends, family or colleagues. Even though working from home allows for fewer distractions, don’t allow it to let you go a whole day without talking to anyone. This can lead to you feeling lonely or isolated if done often.
Why not arrange to have a video call with colleagues or family members? After all, having a proper conversation is much better than the back and forth of emails! And remember, keep the topic light and positive.
Having a routine is great when you’re working from home but don’t feel that you have to stick to it like glue. Take some time away from your computer and have regular screen breaks. Also, try and move your workspace around and stay where there’s natural light/sunshine.
It’s also been proven that ‘little and often’ breaks are more effective than one long break. Taking a longer break can result in productivity levels dropping, resulting in you becoming more tired and less motivated to complete the task you were working on.
Whilst current government advice is for us to stay at home, it is important to continue to carry out daily exercise. Daily exercise can be done at home or once a day outside of the home as recommended by the government.
You could do this before starting work, on your lunch break or once you’ve finished for the day. Whether it be just out in the garden or a short jog around the block, it is essential that we get outside and enjoy some fresh air.
