Staff from The Sheffield College’s employer engagement team have been shortlisted for a regional award.
The Yorkshire Young Professional Awards 2023 recognises leading professionals aged 35 and under who doing ‘amazing’ work for their employers.
Run by Yorkshire Business Insider magazine, the awards shortlist covers a range of industry sectors and professional disciplines and 10 different categories.
Staff in the employer engagement team work with regional employers to involve them in training students in the skills that the economy needs.
This covers a wide remit including apprenticeships, the employer skills academies programme, industry placements and work related activity for students.
The College has been shortlisted in two awards categories including the Young Professional Team of the Year.
The team’s Shani Clifford, Senior Employer Relationship Coordinator, is also a finalist in the Young Business Development Professional category.
Shani said: "I am so pleased to be shortlisted given all of the other applications. It is a huge achievement for someone like me who left school with no qualifications. For the team to be shortlisted too makes me so proud. Everything we do really is a team effort."
Rachel Topliss, Head of Employer Engagement, The Sheffield College, said: “Our team strives to provide excellent opportunities for students to go further in their careers whilst supporting local businesses. It is fantastic to see the team going from strength to strength and to receive this recognition.”
The winners will be announced at a dinner at New Dock Hall in Leeds on February 2nd, 2023.
