Strike Action
We recognise the recent uncertainty has been challenging, and the college has continued to work constructively with UCU to reach an outcome that supports our staff, students and the wider college.
I am pleased to announce that the planned strike action for Wednesday 14th January 2026 and Thursday 15th January 2026 has been cancelled. This is to give UCU chance to consult their members on proposed next steps.
What this means for the next few days:
-
All campuses and services at the college will open with business as usual on Wednesday and Thursday of this week
-
We will communicate UCU's decision regarding strike action on Friday as soon as we are able to when they have confirmed this to us on Thursday
-
Our Bloom provision will open for those who are able to get to us on Wednesday and Thursday but will remain closed to students on Friday. We have worked with the Local Authority to ensure transport arrangements are in place for our Bloom students who usually access them
-
The college nurseries will open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at both sites
-
Pre-scheduled applicant interviews tomorrow evening will go ahead as planned
Advanced Technology Centre Closure
Please be advised that the Advanced Technology Centre will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday 14th January 2026. This is due to a blocked pipe and subsequent sewerage leak.
All other campuses will be open as planned.
Please note:
-
All learning for students studying Engineering and Motor Vehicle will move online. You will receive information on how to join
-
Any learning for Apprentices due to take place at the Advanced Technology Centre tomorrow will be postponed and rearranged
-
All learning for students studying Plumbing at the Advanced Technology Centre will relocate to City Campus. Students are asked to report to City Campus Reception ahead of their timetabled lesson
We are sorry for any inconvenience that this causes. Please be assured that we are working hard behind the scenes to limit the impact on students.
