A tutor who trains floristry apprentices and students at The Sheffield College has won national recognition.
Abigail McGuire is the winner of the British Florist Association FleurEx 2024 Awards Floristry Tutor of the Year.
Abigail also placed first in two additional floristry skills competition categories: Floral Collar and Column Design.
Abigail trains the college’s floristry apprentices, as well as higher diploma and masters diploma students, at the Floristry School at The Sheffield College.
Abigail said: "I am so proud to have been chosen for this prestigious award by the British Florist Association.
"The award is not just recognition of my achievement but of the whole team and our wonderful students here at The Sheffield College.”
Meanwhile, two college students also placed well in the awards. Oliver Low won the Institute of Professional Florists Student of the Year category. Kirsty Noble, a former college apprentice, was awarded the Joint Highest Practical Mark in the Level 4 Higher Diploma 2024 category.

The awards shine a light on tutors and upcoming industry talent with a focus on achievers studying university level qualifications at Levels 4 and 5.
The college offers a wide range of courses including floristry at UC Sheffield, which is the home of its university level qualifications. The curriculum offer comprises higher technical qualifications including higher national diplomas and certificates as well as foundation and honours degrees.
