I'm thrilled to introduce you to The Sheffield College's Employer Skills Academies.

Initially launched in 2019, our Employer Skills Academies are part of an innovative new programme that allows local and national employers to influence the curriculum of our students, whilst also helping to develop students with a brilliant understanding of the working world.

Students from each cohort are hand-selected to join the academy for their area, meaning that employers are able to work with, shape and eventually recruit from, some of the best upcoming talent in their sectors.

Both academy sponsors and students benefit from a range of activities such as workshops/seminars, workplace visits, training activities, working on collaborative projects and much more.

HOW DOES THE ACADEMY SPONSOR BENEFIT?

First and foremost, we encourage academy sponsors to get behind an area that is relevant to their business - this not only allows students to develop their knowledge and understanding of the field alongside an industry leader, but it also enables employers to provide support, guidance and training in their specialist field.

By sponsoring an academy, employers are able to:

promote their brand (through branded classrooms, uniforms and merchandise) to a new audience
inspire the younger generation into careers in fields that they may have previously been unaware of
help to develop students with the required skills and knowledge to fill any upcoming skills gaps within their industry
provide mentoring and leadership opportunities to their existing staff
