Work-Wise Engineering Employer Skills Academy

The Work-Wise STEM Development Employer Skills Academy was launched in September 2021. This academy is based at our Olive Grove Campus and supports our Level 3 Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering students. The Work-Wise STEM Development Employer Skills Academy allows a hand-selected group of students to work closely with representatives from Work-Wise and their stakeholders, in order to develop their professional industry knowledge.

About Work-Wise Engineering Employer Skills Academy

The Work-Wise STEM Development Employer Skills Academy students will be able to undertake an employer-led programme of workshops, masterclasses and inspiring employability skills training sessions throughout their course to transform their life through learning. The students will be given the opportunity to learn from, and demonstrate their skills throughout their time in the academy to enhance their self-development and prepare them for life in the growing STEM industry.

Working with Work-Wise and their stakeholders from across the Sheffield City Region, this academy inspires students hoping to pursue a career in Engineering and Manufacturing to think about the various careers available in this industry.

The students will undertake their learning in a Work-Wise branded classroom, complete with interactive equipment. The students will cover an array of subjects such as:

  • Engineering Communications
  • Setting and Proving Secondary Processes

The Sheffield College

The Work-wise Foundation are delighted to be partnering with Sheffield College on our new Employer Skills Academy and we are looking forward to supporting and working with our next generation of industry talent. Work-wise works on behalf of local employers to tackle the current shortage of young people entering the industry and filling skills gaps and this partnership with the College is a perfect match. Involving a range of local sector employers sharing their real-life skills, knowledge and experience with students, who in turn will feed the pipeline of young talent entering the industry.
