The Yorkshire Film and TV Employer Skills Academy provides students with the opportunity to develop industry-relevant skills, knowledge and professional networks within the film, television and creative media sectors. Delivered in partnership with Screen Yorkshire through its Connected Campus initiative, the academy connects students with industry professionals, employers and real-world opportunities that help prepare them for careers in the screen industries. Students gain valuable insight into how the sector operates while developing the practical and professional skills needed to succeed in a highly competitive creative environment.

About Yorkshire Film and TV Employer Skills Academy

The Yorkshire Film and TV Employer Skills Academy has been designed to support students studying creative, media and digital programmes by providing direct access to industry expertise and professional development opportunities. Open to students on all creative programmes, the academy enhances learning through a variety of employer-led experiences that bring classroom learning to life.  

Throughout their studies, students have the opportunity to participate in specialist boot camps, masterclasses, industry events, guest speaker sessions and project opportunities delivered by professionals working across film, television and digital media. These experiences provide a valuable understanding of the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to work within the screen industries, while helping students build confidence and expand their professional networks.   

Students may also benefit from visits to production facilities, studio environments and live industry settings, alongside opportunities to receive feedback on project pitches and creative work. By engaging directly with industry professionals and employers, learners gain a clearer understanding of career pathways while developing the practical experience and industry awareness needed to progress into employment, higher education or freelance creative careers.
