Our Advanced Technology Centre is The Sheffield College’s home of engineering, motor vehicle, gas fitting and plumbing, just a five minute walk down the road from our City Campus.

Access information

After a recent major investment at our Advanced Technology Centre (formerly Olive Grove), we have provided students with state-of-the-art workshops which include the exact same machinery as would be found in industry settings, the latest CAD software, new classrooms and a Learning Resource Centre to keep us at the cutting edge of the changes in manufacture, electrical and electronic engineering.

The Advanced Technology Centre also has a dedicated motor vehicle workshop with tyre fitting machine, wheel balancing equipment and car ramps, as well as a workshop for body repair and refinishing.

Entrance and Reception
  • Permanent ramp/slope leading to main entrance.
  • Automatic double doors.
Indoor access and levels
  • Lift access to all levels.
  • Rumble strips in key areas.
Toilets
  • Accessible toilets on multiple floors (including Braille, tactile, pictorial and written text signage on or near the toilet door).
  • Male, female and inclusive toilets available on all floors.
Eating and drinking
  • Various food outlets serving hot and cold food and drinks:
    • Advanced Technology Centre Diner - Hot food counter and self-service cold counters (drinks and sandwiches)
    • Vending machines available in communal areas

By Car

  • From the M1 use Junction 33 onto the Sheffield Parkway, which merges into the A61.
  • At the large roundabout, take the third exit sign posted A61.
  • Continue on A61, keeping the train station on your left, until you spot a McDonalds restaurant.
  • After the traffic lights turn left on to Farm Road, keeping the McDonalds on your left.
  • Carry straight on to East Bank Road for approximately 300 metres (passing a petrol station on your right).
  • Advanced Technology Centre is on the right hand side.

By Train

Sheffield Train Station is only 15 minutes from the Advanced Technology Centre on foot.

By Tram

The Advanced Technology Centre is served by two nearby tram stops – Granville Road/Sheffield College and Park Grange Croft (both stops are on the Blue and Purple lines).

By Bus

The central bus terminal is approximately 15 minutes walk from the Advanced Technology Centre, and there are several other bus stops close by.

By Bike

The Advanced Technology Centre has secure bike storage on site. Please speak to Student Services to register and gain access to the storage facilities.

Parking

Parking at the Advanced Technology Centre is limited to those with Blue Badges, however the Grosvenor Casino (Duchess Road) offers pay-and-display public parking and is only a 5 minute walk from the campus. 

Major investment

Following securing £2.6 million from the Department for Education’s Post 16 Capacity Fund for 2023/24. We have been able to transform what was Olive Grove Campus into thie cities first Advanced Technology Centre!
