Course overview

There are two levels of training to suit specific needs, each covering a range of different welding processes and techniques. This course can provide learners with an industry recognised qualification (if this option is taken) and the acquisition of skills and knowledge in modern welding processes and techniques. Students will learn MIG and down hand welding. There is a theory element to each of the processes.Students will also learn about the health and safety associated with welding.

About the course

There are no entry requirements, just an interest in learning a new skill and a commitment to attend evening classes.
To achieve the qualification learners will be primarily assessed in the form of practical tests. Each process is assessed via two weld tests along with an accompanying basic theory test.
Students who complete this qualification can progress to Level 3 the following year or into employment as a welder. Students may also choose to do another process at the same level.
Some PPE equipment (to be discussed at point of enrollment).
