Community Open Day: everything you need to know

Come along to The Sheffield College's Community Open Day on Saturday 10th May and explore everything we have to offer.

Bring your friends and family along for a day filled with wonderful activities, great food, and a chance to meet some of Sheffield’s community groups. It's also the perfect opportunity to explore your future options with our curriculum areas and for us to celebrate our incredible communities.

Here’s everything you need to know before attending our Community Open Day:

Who is the event for?

It’s a family friendly event. Everyone is welcome and it’s free on the day with no tickets required, all you need to do is just turn up!

When and where is it?

Saturday 10th May 2025 from 10am – 1pm at our City Campus

The Sheffield College, Granville Road, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S2 2RL

What can I do on the day?

It’s an outdoor event where you’ll have the chance to take part in a variety of interactive activities and games, enjoy free hot food and ice cream, connect with local communities and find out about the qualifications we have on offer at The Sheffield College and the support that we have available.

Activities include:

  • watch live performances, including Sheffcol’s got Talent
  • face painting
  • lawn games
  • take part in interactive activities including printing, mocktail demonstrations, a live bugs workshop and plant potting
  • basketball, tag rugby and table tennis

We’ll also be taking donations for the Sheffcol Community Kitchen.

We are asking for donations of dried goods, toiletries and household essentials, tinned goods and sweet treats.

Packs will also be available on the day for collection, no questions asked.

  • South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue
  • Sheffield Action on Plastic
  • The Eagles Foundation

How to get to us

There are many ways that you can travel to our City Campus, including:

  • By tram - the nearest stop is Granville Road/The Sheffield College
  • By bus - the central bus terminal is only a 10-minute walk and the 120 bus travelling to Crystal Peaks stops just two minutes away
  • On site parking will be available for the event and there is allocated Blue Badge parking. We also have parking available for both scooters and motorcycles, as well as secure bike storage. Please note that availability of parking is on a first come first served basis
  • Alternative parking is available at the Grosvenor Casino and also at Q-Park next to Sheffield Train Station
