Strikes due to take place at The Sheffield College this week by members of the University and College Union (UCU) have been cancelled.
UCU members were due to strike on three days:
UCU has confirmed that industrial action has been cancelled for two of those days - Wednesday 14th January 2026 and Thursday 15th January 2026.
UCU are due to consult their members on proposed next steps and due to confirm whether a strike will go ahead or not this Friday 16th January 2026.
Paul Simpson, Executive Director for People, The Sheffield College, said: “We have been working constructively with UCU to reach an outcome that supports our staff, students and the wider college.
“We welcome the cancellation of strikes for two days this week. We are continuing discussions with UCU and committed to resolving this dispute, which affects a number of further education colleges nationally.
“Contingency plans are in place to minimise potential disruption should industrial action still go ahead this Friday 16th January 2026. We will continue to keep staff and students updated.”
