Our Advanced Technology Centre is our home of engineering, motor vehicle, gas fitting, and plumbing, housing state-of-the-art facilities, the latest software, and dedicated tutors, all giving our students the best chance at succeeding in these opportunity-rich industries.

Student Support

At The Sheffield College, we want our students to be able to focus fully on their qualifications. That’s why we ensure they have all the support necessary to thrive here. This support includes:

• In-class support
• Childcare
• Mental health and well-being
• Exams, such as revision, extra time allowances, or additional requirements
• Support with a learning or physical disability (SEND)
• Access to external personal, financial, and travel support

We also have a Student Central at our Advanced Technology Centre, which is where all of our students can access information, advice, and guidance on the following:

• Admissions and applications
• Travel support and planning
• Printing college ID cards
• Student updates
• Payments for Student Support Fund applications, trips, exam fees, DBS checks
• Providing proof of student status letters
• Collecting your TOTUM card

After undertaking an incredible renovation, all subjets at our Advanced Technology Centre have use of our Immersive Room for 360 experiences. Engineering

• Haas computerised numerical control (CNC) lathe turning centre
• CAD software
• Workshops filled with manual lathes, turret mills, and our CNC modular mini-mill
• Laser cutter and 3D printers
• Employer partners such as Kinetic Solutions Group, Forgemasters, MADE in Sheffield, and Work-Wise
• Students have taken part in work-related learning and placements at Pryor Marking, Pentagon Group, and Independent Forgings
• Previous visits to The Space Centre, ASSEAL, Silverstone, JCB Factory and Switzerland with the Turing Scheme
• Previous speakers from AMRC, Sheffield Hallam University, and Derby University
• Students have also previously taken part in the Get Up To Speed Event and WorldSkills competitions
