What you can study

Learners will complete both mandatory and optional units of study covering a wide range of areas such as support, specialisms, clinical skills or healthcare tasks along with leadership and management skills. The qualification aims to focus on the study of the adult care worker role in care settings, offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge and provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical and technical skills to effectively work within adult health and social care settings.

  • Promote equality, diversity and inclusion and human rights in care settings

Entry Requirements

This course is suitable for applicants aged 19+ 

This qualification is designed for those who wish to work or are already working in health and social care settings in England aged 19+. There are no specific prior skills/knowledge a learner must have for this qualification.

Assessment

Assessment will take place continuously throughout the year, on a module-by-module basis. These will take a variety of forms, including (but not limited to):

Essays, reports, presentations, posters and work-based assessments 

Most assessments are undertaken individually, but some may involve pair or group work. There is no terminal examination.

Where does this Lead

Completion of the diploma can support studies such as:
  • Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England)

Along with a number of higher education courses.

Future Opportunities

Future employment opportunities such as;
  • Lead adult care worker
  • Senior care support worker
  • Lead personal assistant along 

Extra Costs

There are no additional fees associated with this Diploma, with practical equipment expected to be provided within the working environment. 

Students will need to supply their own stationery, and some choose to buy their own textbooks, although physical and electronic copies of key texts are available from the college's Learning Resource Centre.
