About this Course

This Level 2 Bricklaying progression study programme is designed to give you the industry recognised skills required for a career as a brciklayer. This course will further develop your skills in the practical aspects of bricklaying, enabling you to progress into employment upon successful completion.

Key Units

This study programme is available to progressing Gateway to Construction (Bricklaying) students and will give you the skills required at Level 2 by completing the City & Guilds Diploma in Bricklaying (6705-23).


The units delivered on the diploma are:
  • Principles of Building
  • Interpretation of Drawings
  • Building Solid Walling
  • Constructing Cavity Walling

Entry Requirements

  • A Level 1 qualification in Brickwork/Bricklaying
  • 4 GCSEs grade A*- E / grade 2 or above (or acceptable alternatives), including English Language

Assessment

This programme is assessed through the use of:

  • practical synoptic assessments
  • online exams
  • completion of a practical handbook       

Where does this Lead

Successful completion of all the elements of this programme may lead to progression into employment, or onto an Apprenticeship.

This course is designed for people wishing to expand their career within the building industry as a bricklayer. 

Extra Costs

You will need to bring your own overalls and safety boots for workshop sessions as a minimum requirement. All other safety equipment will be provided on an as and when needed basis.

Students in financial hardship can apply to the Student Support Fund for help with course related expenses.
