Start your journey with a Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Leadership and Management. By the end of Level 4, students will have a solid understanding of the fundamental concepts of leadership and management.

Contribute to the Development of a Strategic Plan
  • Demonstrate your contributions to strategic planning within your organisation, ensuring they align with strategic objectives and resource constraints.
  • Analyse and evaluate strategic planning models, analytical techniques, business strategy approaches, factors affecting strategic plans, scanning tools for strategy development, and the relationship between strategic intentions, choice, and formulation.
Design Business Processes
  • Complete a SWOT and PESTEL analysis of current processes, evaluate improvements and constraints, and develop systems for capturing information.
  • Evaluate workflow patterns, business process modelling tools, and factors impacting business process efficiency and effectiveness.
Manage Strategic Change
  • Using work-based examples, describe the change management model used, analyse stakeholder mapping techniques, develop a stakeholder engagement plan, assess reasons for change, evaluate internal and external influences, and identify implications on knowledge management systems and operational plans.
Provide Leadership and Management
  • Demonstrate effective leadership and management through adapting plans, securing stakeholder commitment, making planning and resourcing decisions, and using delegation techniques.
  • Analyse and evaluate leadership and management theories, the influence of organisational culture/structure, theories of motivation, and the role of stakeholder engagement.

Entry Requirements

You should possess good numeracy and literacy skills before starting the qualification.


Desirable academic profile may include the following qualifications:
  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above
  • Level 3/A Level qualification in an area such as Business Studies, Economics or Accountancy
  • 48 UCAS points and/or relevant work experience

Assessment

Assessments are conducted internally to the guidelines of the awarding body. In some units, assessments are required from a suitable workplace.

Assessment methods may include:

  • Practical observations taken from real-world workplace settings
You will provide evidence of your work practice, including completing assignments, case studies, written accounts, and providing work products. Evidence is uploaded to an e-portfolio via Google Classroom and is available to you 24/7 on computers, tablets, and mobile devices.
