On this year-long course you will build up a portfolio of work finding out about all the different component industries within the travel and tourism sector and studying subjects such as Customer Service, Visitor Attractions, and Tourist Destinations. As well as looking into holiday destinations in Europe and 'long-haul' areas of the world, you will also be focusing on some of the Coastal Resorts within the UK; this usually involves a study visit to at least one such resort. Another of the units requires you to carry out research into the Events industry and asks you to come with your own innovative plan for an event.
The course comprises of 6 units that range from customer service in travel and tourism to a broad overview of the industry as a whole.
4 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above (or acceptable alternatives), including English Language and Maths.
Portfolio of coursework.
The next step is usually the BTEC Level 3 in Travel and Tourism, although students may opt to study a different
subject area at Level 3, or prefer to follow an Apprenticeship route.
