About this Course

This course is for you if you have a lively and enquiring mind, a willingness to explore new ideas and you have a keen interest in business and management. You will learn all about the exciting world of business and have the opportunity to apply your learning in a practical and realistic way. This is course also equips you well for further study at University or employment in a wide range of industries.

Year 1

Mandatory

  • Developing a Marketing Campaign (15 credits)
  • Personal & Business Finance (20 credits)
  • Managing an Event (15 credits)

Optional

  • International Business (15 credits)
  • Employment Law (10 credits)

Year 2

In your second year you will choose a specialist pathway (Accounting, Law or Marketing) and study modules specific to your specialism. 

Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs grades A* - C/grade 4 or above (or acceptable alternatives), including English Language and Maths.

Assessment

You will largely be assessed through coursework, however some units do include controlled assignments under exam conditions.

The combination of a broad-based first year, combined with the specialist knowledge you will acquire in your second year means that this course will give you a wide variety of options for further study.

You will have access to excellent IT facilities and learning resources, including the college intranet, which can be used to access learning resources when not in college. 


UCAS Points

The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business is accepted for entry to university and carries UCAS Tariff points equivalent to 3 A Levels. Please check the UCAS website for more details. 


Extra Costs

Additional costs may include paying for printing costs if you want to print your assignments off at college.


You will also be expected to contribute towards the cost of any study trips and visits.


You may be entitled to help with the cost of these and anything else you need to buy for your course from the college's Student Support Fund.
