About this Course

This course will suit you if you want to learn the basic skills and knowledge involved in plumbing.

Key Units

On this qualification, you will develop skills in installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing systems, and have the opportunity to learn about some of the key components of plumbing.

The qualification is approximately 50% theory and 50% practical. You will study both in the workshop area and in the classroom.The practical skills and theoretical knowledge you gain will help you to prepare for the Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing. 

Functional Skills lessons will also form an important part of your studies. These include English, Digital Skills and Maths, and will help you to improve your skills in these areas. There will be a formal assessment when you are ready.

Facilities
You will benefit from learning and developing your practical skills in our custom-built workshops at Olive Gove campus.

Personal Study Time
Students may be expected to work independently on project work away from the college.

5 GCSE grades at 2 or above including English, Maths and Science.

Where does this Lead

Progression to Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing or an Apprenticeship at a suitable level.

Extra Costs

For this qualficaition you will be required to purchase your own overalls and safety boots (PPE workwear) for workshop sessions. All other safety equipment will be provided.


Students in financial hardship may be eligible to apply to the Learner Support Fund for support with course related expenses.
