The Level 2 Pre-Access qualification is designed to prepare students to undertake an Access to HE Diploma, with the view to progressing to university level study. Taught by experienced lecturers, this qualification will help you gain the academic skills and subject knowledge required to study on an Access to HE Diploma or other equivalent qualification. You will learn about academic topics as well as covering key concepts in Health, Science, Sociology, English and Study Skills.
This qualification is assessed through a variety of task based
assignments which would typically reflect the skills required of you on both a
Level 3 Access to HE Diploma and also whilst studying for a Higher Education
qualification.

Applicants who do not have GCSE English Language at grade
C/4 or above are recommended to study this qualification alongside it.
Please ensure you check the individual entry requirements
for the Level 3 Access to HE Diploma you wish to study after your Level 2
Certificate. Some diplomas require English Language, Maths and/or Science
GCSE.
Applicants should have work/volunteering experience in the
sector they wish to progress to or have experience that links to the subject.
This qualification uses a variety of assessment methods which reflect the wide skillset required to be successful at Level 3 and higher. Typical assessment types consist of compiling reports, presentations, creating blogs, taking part in academic discussions and symposiums plus much more!
Students who successfully complete this qualification will be
prepared to progress on to a Level 3 Access to HE Diploma, subject to you
meeting the specific entry requirements and standards.
Further progression can see students entering Higher Education with a firm grasp of the skills and knowledge required for success.

The full fee for this course is approximately £1200. If you are unemployed and in receipt of benefit or earning below the low wage threshold, the course is fully funded. If you are 19-23 you must have already achieved a full level 2 to qualify for the funding above. If you do not meet this criteria you will pay 50% of the full fee. Please note: all quoted fees are subject to change.
Students may wish to participate in trips and visits offered
from time to time, however these do not currently form a compulsory element of
your studies.
