About this Course

During the two-year programme, students will develop the core knowledge and skills, alongside industry experience that are all needed for entry into a range of maintenance, installation and repair occupations.

Key Units

You will develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the sector, including:
  • working within the Engineering and Manufacturing Sectors
  • how materials, conditions and context influence design processes and products
  • essential mathematics for engineering and manufacturing
  • mathematics, including standard matrices and determinants and standard trigonometry
  • materials and their properties
  • material processing techniques and their effects on materials and material quality
  • the condition of materials, how these are managed, and material testing methods and techniques
  • business, commercial and financial awareness
basic commercial principles including commercial priorities and markets, customers/clients/partners and resource allocation

Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above plus English Language and Maths at grade 5 or above.

Assessment

You will be assessed through written and practical examinations, employer projects, group work, presentations and analysis.
