About this Course

1 year programme studying the core skills of Beauty therapy to include facial, makeup, manicure, pedicure, nail art, anatomy & physiology. Successful completion will lead onto Level 3 body massage certificate.

Entry Requirements

  • Functional skills English at Level 2 OR GCSE English
  • Be able to access a computer for online aspects of the delivery / assignments
  • Be able to commit to the course learning hours
  • Be willing to work in industry
  • Be willing to work on paying clients
  • Agree to sourcing your own clients for specific assessment requirements

Assessment

The course is assessed entirely by coursework therefore students need to have good time management skills and be able to work to targets and deadlines. 


Practical assessments will be carried out in the salon on members of the public in a realistic salon setting. Underpinning knowledge will be assessed by exams throughout the academic year.

You will attend 1 day a week for 6 hours.

There will be 3 hours a week of independent learning.

You will be working in a commercial salon to develop skills and complete assessments in a realistic working environment. A voluntary/paid work placement within the beauty industry is essential for the success of this course.

Extra Costs

You will be asked to purchase a uniform which must be worn at all times when in the salon. In addition to this you must wear full black shoes, have your hair securely tied up in a bun, short clean nails with no nail varnish, gel polish or nail extensions, one pair of stud earrings and a wedding band only.

You will also need to have a professional beauty kit that must be brought to every practical session.

Value added training will be offered at an additional cost to upskill and keep up with latest industry trends.
