Key Units

As part of the Elite Sports programme at the college, The Academy gives all students aged 16-19 the opportunity to undertake workshops with local sports clubs and engage with projects to develop their employability skills alongside their BTEC qualifications.

Students in the Elite Sports Academy will be encouraged to host and coach sporting events for their peers as well as apply for sport opportunities which are available to them worldwide.

Students will be supported to compete professionally and will be encourage to apply for the most elite teams worldwide.

The programme is a partnership between the college and the KW2 Academy. It is part of the college's wider Elite Sports Employer Skills Academy brand.

Alongside completing their studies, students will have access to specialist support such as:

  • coaching
  • strength and conditioning sessions
  • fitness equipment
  • video analysis
  • physiotherapy
  • competitive leagues
  • scouting opportunities

Applicants accepted onto the KW2 Academy scholarship at the college will choose from a wide range of academic or technical subjects and qualifications.

Entry Requirements

5x GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including maths or english.

Assessment

Dependant on chosen qualification.

Where does this Lead

Students on the KW2 programme can access a range of study programmes at the college including vocational qualifications in Sport, and A-Level study.

Future Opportunities

On completion of the course students will be equipped with the skills to advance onto university study (following completion of a Level 3 programme) into the coaching industry and also opportunities to continue their football career through links with clubs and scholarship opportunities in America.
