About this Course

Do you dream of a career in the games industry? This two year course will give you the skills you need to do just that. Learn all of the key skills that are used in the development of your favorite games such as modelling, art, design.

Key Units

This two year course will give you the entry-level skills you need to work in the Game development. This pathway of our games course focuses more on the art and design side of game development, while our NextGen course focuses more on the technical side. Both courses cover the core understanding and knowledge to get you on the path to the game industry. This course will equip you with the skills to develop high quality outcomes and teach you key industry standard software such as, Unreal Engine, Maya, Photoshop.

Entry Requirements

Minimum of five GCSEs at grade C / grade 4 or above, including English Language.

You’ll also need strong IT skills, self-motivation and a passion for Computer Games and design.

This course is suitable for 16-18 and 19+ learners.

Assessment

The course is assessed through a series of assignments. Typically, you'll develop your skills and understanding through different projects before been given a deadline and a list of outcomes which you will have to produce.

You will need to have good time management skills and be able to work to targets and deadlines.

You'll leave with both essential skills and a strong portfolio that demonstrates your potential, whether you decide to go straight into the workplace, or study in Higher Education

The next step could be on our Foundation Degree in Games Development that we run here at the college with UC Sheffield or alternative Higher Education course in Games, Animation or VFX.

Extra Costs

You will be required to pay a £25 studio fee at the beginning of the academic year to contribute to course materials.
