About this Course

This Level 2 qualification course has been designed to provide learners with a comprehensive introduction to the Retrofit Sector within the Construction Industry. In this course, you will learn the key aspects required to ensure a successful retrofit project, including the information used, health and safety considerations, resource management, risk assessment, contractual requirements, and the intricate processes involved as part of Retrofit activities.

Key Units

Domestic retrofit is the process of upgrading our homes to make them more energy efficient, reducing carbon emissions and creating homes that are healthier and cheaper to live in. This course will give you a comprehensive and easy to follow introduction to whole-house retrofit.

The course is designed to improve the employability of learners as well as lay a foundation for higher level training. Employers are increasingly seeking staff who understand the fundamentals of retrofitting our homes.

By the end of this course, you will possess a solid foundation in the fundamentals of retrofitting, empowering you to contribute effectively to any retrofit project.



Introduction to Domestic Retrofit - Busting all the jargon, introducing key concepts like Fabric First and Whole House Retrofit.

Domestic Retrofit Information - Getting to grips with the different types of information and documents used in retrofit projects.

Health and Safety - Understanding the current legislation relating to domestic retrofit, how to respond to and report emergencies and workplace accidents and how to identify and report risks and hazards.

Domestic Retrofit Materials - Becoming familiar with the types of materials used in domestic retrofit projects and how to ensure they are up to standard.

Protecting The Work Area - Everything you need to know to minimise risks in the workplace and dispose of waste properly.

Retrofit Contract Information - Understand the basic principles of domestic retrofit, including pre-installation requirements, installation details and installation problems.

Common Domestic Retrofit Installation Processes - An overview of installation methods, including internal and external solid walls, cavity walls, roofs, suspended and solid floors and windows and doors.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for learners undertaking this qualification, but it is principally designed for persons who are aged 16 years of age or older and who already have a background and experience in the construction industry.

Assessment

Learners will be required to complete end of unit knowledge test.

The tests consist of multiple-choice questions covering the Learning Outcomes and associated requirements for the units.

The tests are graded at Pass/Fail. 

The qualification is graded at Pass/Fail
