About this Course

The health and social care sectors create a large proportion of jobs in the UK, with the NHS alone employing 1.5 million people. The sector includes various opportunities like healthcare assistant, care work, social work, supervisors and managers.

Careers you can train for with a Health and Social Care Apprenticeship include: 

Assistant Practitioner (Health) 

A Healthcare assistant practitioner works alongside registered healthcare professionals to provide high-quality and people-centered compassionate care and support to individuals. The role would include coordinating care, undertaking clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic activities. 

Adult Care Work  

An adult care worker is a frontline worker who helps adults with care and support to achieve personal goals and live as independently and safely as possible. The role would include supporting people with social and physical activities, booking and accompanying people to appointments and assisting with personal care. 

Healthcare Science Assistant  

A healthcare science assistant contributes to safe patient care across all care pathways from conception to end of life. The role would include basic life support, preparation of the environment, production of reliable data and keeping accurate records. 

Healthcare Science Associate  

A Healthcare science associate supports the work of healthcare science practitioners and clinical scientists in performing high-quality, safe diagnostic, therapeutic and monitoring technical and scientific procedures. 

Lead Adult Care or Practitioner  

A Lead adult care worker or practitioner is a frontline member of staff who helps adults with care and support needs. The role will include providing supervision, frontline leadership, guidance and direction for others. 

Senior Healthcare Support Worker  

A Senior healthcare support worker works in a range of settings, including hospitals, day-case units, birthing centres, individuals' homes and nursing and care homes. The role would include monitoring physical and mental health in your care, promoting the health and well-being of individuals and recording, reporting and storing information.

Individual employers will set the selection criteria for their Apprenticeships. 

Assessment

During your standard, you will develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours to ensure your readiness for your End Point Assessment (EPA).
