FD Music Performance & Production Y1
The Sheffield College's FdA Music Performance and Production programme offers students a broad ranging of music and the opportunity to develop detailed specialist knowledge in music performance and production. With strong links to employers in the creative industries, and opportunities for extensive experience of performance, the programme develops specialist knowledge and skills, appropriate transferable skills, self-awareness and the capacity to engage in reflective practice. The range of modules provides a starting point for a range of careers in the performing arts, musical and community arts organisations, whether from graduation or with further study. With the majority of the industry being self-employed, there is a focus on entrepreneurship. Students are given the opportunity to perform in venues across the city, to work with the local music festival, Tramlines, and to work with local industry professionals. The programme is delivered in purpose-built music classrooms, rehearsal and studio facilities and the department is currently leveraging this with the launch of a commercial record label, which will be run predominantly for, and by the students.
