All you need to know about the National Skills Fund

What is it?

The National Skills Fund is a government-funded initiative which provides adults over the age of 19 with an opportunity to improve their career prospects by expanding their current skills or training in a new industry. As part of this, a new Level 3 offer for eligible adults has been developed to help more adults in the UK achieve their first full Level 3 qualification than
ever before.

If you are eligible, your qualifications won’t cost you a penny!

What can I study?

The National Skills Fund is an exciting range of Level 3 qualifications for adults, that are aligned to the jobs that the country needs skilled worker to help the economy recover. That means you have the opportunity to study:

  • A Levels
  • Technical Certificates
  • Extended Diplomas

and many more in the following sectors:

  • childcare and early years
  • health and social care
  • engineering
  • building and construction
  • accounting, business and finance
  • leadership and management
  • and more

Am I eligible for free Level 3 qualifications?

It will be free to study our Adult Level 3 offer if you:

  • are a resident of the UK
  • are aged 19+
  • don’t yet have a full Level 3 qualification

The Skills Funded courses may also be available to anyone 19+ who has a Full Level 3 but is on a Low Wage or unemployed on benefits at the time of enrolment.

It’s worth noting that 19 to 23 year olds can also access additional courses for free through their legal entitlement to a first full Level 3 qualification. Contact admissions@sheffcol.ac.uk for more information.
