The Access to HE Diploma in Education (Early Years) is an intensive one year programme of study. It will equip you with the skills, experience and qualifications to go on to study a range of higher education courses in Early Years and Childhood studies that can then lead to careers in early years education, primary education, further education, safeguarding and family support work.

This study programme is designed to help you build the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people in a school setting. The course is aimed at mature students (aged 19 and over) who want to work in a supervised capacity across any aspect of education with children and young people aged from 5 to 19.
This supporting teaching and learning programme consists of 11 units which cover aspects required to become a confident, skilled support; ready to work with children and young people. Units include safeguarding, the learning environment, children and young people’s development, teamwork, communication and professional relationships and supporting learning activities. The year-long course has a strong practical element (including a mandatory placement), as well as a sound knowledge base.
