This Access to HE qualification is run over three days per week and prepares adult students for university degrees in paramedic science or paramedic practice.
Learners will complete both mandatory and optional units of study covering a wide range of areas such as support, specialisms, clinical skills or healthcare tasks along with leadership and management skills. The qualification aims to focus on the study of the adult care worker role in care settings, offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge and provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical and technical skills to effectively work within adult health and social care settings.
The health and social care sectors create a large proportion of jobs in the UK, with the NHS alone employing 1.5 million people. The sector includes various opportunities like healthcare assistant, care work, social work, supervisors and managers. As an Apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience in a supportive team developing knowledge, skills and behaviours that will benefit you throughout your career journey. And let’s not forget that you will also receive an industry recognised qualification.
This qualification will help learners to understand their role in supporting the preferences and needs of individuals in relation to their care or support, the development and implementation of care plans and contributing to the review of these by observing, monitoring and reporting on the care activities they’re responsible for.
This qualification aims to help learners develop a general understanding of different types of medication and their use, knowledge of the procedures for obtaining, storing, administering and disposing of medication, an understanding of legislation and the audit process related to medication and issues of responsibility and accountability, and an understanding of the record-keeping process for medication.
